How can we expect teachers to operate at peak performance when they are forced to contend with compensation that is, more often than not, less than the basic cost of living?
The mission begins by increasing teacher salaries.
Teachers hold bachelor’s degrees and, in many cases, advanced degrees, often resort to taking on a second job to make ends meet. This does not happen in any other profession.
What’s worse, is that everyone knows that this is the reality of the teaching profession, and so many will never even consider the vocation. Many already working in the classroom are looking elsewhere for a better career path, causing teacher shortages and exacerbating the situation.
